At the heart of Caroline's work is a belief in what becomes possible when people come together with intention.

Caroline Macaulay, Brisbane-based facilitator and strategy consultant

Caroline Macaulay spent fifteen years as a speech pathologist, working with children, young people and families to help them find and use their voice. That experience seeded everything that followed: a deep belief in the power of connection, a commitment to listening before acting and a conviction that systems should empower people rather than diminish them.

Her desire to improve how essential services are designed and delivered led her to a second career in clinical service redesign and health strategy, where she spent years co-designing and implementing human-centred services and programs at scale across Queensland.

In 2023, Caroline established Macaulay Consulting to bring that experience directly to organisations navigating change. She draws on a background in strategy, planning, service improvement, innovation and leadership, combined with qualifications in neuro-leadership, emotional culture and psychological safety, to create conditions for meaningful change.

Her work spans Queensland Health and NSW Health's hospitals and health services, the National Health System in the UK, General Practice and Primary Health Networks, universities and research organisations and a range of 'for purpose' organisations, both government funded and private.

Part of the Clarity Consortium

Caroline is one of nine seasoned consultants who form the Clarity Consortium, an Australian collaboration established in 2018. Each member runs an independent consultancy in their own specialist field, and together the group submits joint proposals on larger pieces of work that benefit from a broader range of expertise.

The consortium operates on principles of integrity, quality, flexibility and professional generosity. For clients, it means that engaging Macaulay Consulting can also draw on the wider experience of the group when the work calls for it.

How Caroline works

Caroline's approach is shaped by emotional intelligence, brain science and decades of practical experience working inside complex organisations. She is focused on helping leaders, boards, teams and organisations create clarity, alignment and momentum.

She works flexibly: scoping each engagement to what is actually needed rather than fitting clients into a standard package. Engagements can range from a single facilitated session to a multi-month program engagement.

Whether the work is a strategic planning process or a one-off team workshop, Caroline brings the same commitment to listening, clarity and practical action.
